As adults, these beliefs surface, shaping our decisions and actions, often without us even realizing it. They keep us stuck by creating a mental barrier that prevents us from taking risks, pursuing our dreams, and stepping into our full potential.

As a coach I often explore limiting beliefs and there is definitely a few that common among many of my clients.

The beliefs are pervasive and powerful, subtly shaping our choices and behaviours. Whether you’re aiming to start a new business, switch careers, or pursue a passion project, these limiting beliefs can create a mental roadblock that feels insurmountable.

The good news is, that once you recognize them, you can take steps to break free.

Understanding that these beliefs are common and shared by many can also be incredibly reassuring—you are not alone, and you are capable of overcoming them.

#1: I’m not good enough

  • This belief erodes self-confidence and prevents you from taking on new challenges. It convinces you that you’re not worthy of success, leading to a cycle of self-doubt and inaction.

#2: I don’t have enough time

  • This belief creates a constant feeling of overwhelm and scarcity. It makes you prioritize less important tasks, putting your dreams on hold indefinitely.

#3: I will fail

#1 Identify and Challenge the Belief

  • Start by writing down the limiting belief. Then, challenge it by asking, “Is this really true?” Look for evidence to the contrary. Often, you’ll find that these beliefs are based on unfounded fears or outdated information.

#2 Reframe Your Thoughts

  • Replace limiting beliefs with empowering ones. For example, change “I’m not good enough” to “I am capable and constantly improving.” This shifts your mindset from defeat to possibility.

    And yes if you’re saying well I don’t believe it so this is not possible. I get it so be curious and explore the question can I hold both beliefs? Hold both beliefs and when you’re aware of your attention on the old belief shift to the new belief and continue with this practice until the old belief is dismantled.

#4 Take Small, Consistent Actions

  • Action is a powerful antidote to limiting beliefs. Start with small steps that move you toward your goal. Each success, no matter how small, builds confidence and weakens the grip of limiting beliefs.
